“I want to be different just like all of my friends.”
Cliques, gangs, posses, groups have all been a big part of teen culture. But now, more than ever, teens value the group mentality and the ideals of their friends.
Lets look at some of the facts of this culture:

Do you know the first day that you and your best friend be

Haha! I have a habit of forming NSC on some of my favorite bloggers. I keep calling them my girl crushes (even though some of them are men) and I tell my husband about them too. I'm not sure he gets what I'm talking about but at least he isn't freaked out.

I have friend crushes. They're very hard to explain to my contemporary friends. But my little sister understands perfectly.

This is great. I have a major NSC on Rachel Maddow of MSNBC -and no, we have never met before.

Amy,
I share your crush on Rachel Maddow; she just seems so cool. Maddow is the kind of person I like to invite to group dinners for hours of conversations about a slew of random, unrelated topis.

I definitely have girl crushes. Sanaa Lathan, Gabrielle Union, and Kerry Washington.
Ha ha. I don't remember the date but I do know that me and my BFF are 13 years in the game.
I sooo friend-dated in college. Good times.
However, I don't know how I feel about teens and constant access. It just gives them more ways to terrorize each other. Let's be honest, kids are mean as hell.

Thanks for sharing your NSC's! I always get embarrassed when I say I have a non-sexual crush on someone and they look at me like I am nuts--its normal, spread the word!
Thanks for reading,
Vanessa
