Ever wondered if your Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) preferences relate to your political preferences?

Allen Hammer published several statistics about the political affiliations of each MBTI preference in Snapshots of the 16 Types. In his research, he found that:

Nope! I am an INFJ and am not democratic in most of my views. However, it does hold true for my INTJ husband, but interesting he is an "Executive" type.

Yea, It would need more evidence but I fall in the republican sector. I just took the test this year for my job.

Interesting.

I always found the Meyers Briggs test to be a pretty blunt instrument in the first place.

There was another study I read about a few weeks ago about how people with different political beliefs react to frightening images and situations. It found that people with conservative beliefs were much more disturbed by the images than those with more liberal views.

I really don't know what conclusions to draw based on it, but it is interesting. Maybe liberals tend to watch more horror movies so they're desensitized to that kind of thing.

Nope. Not a match. Myers-Briggs wasn't designed for this, anyhow. It can be a helpful tool within its specific design, but even then it isn't prescriptive.

Nope! I'm a conservative Republican ENFP.

It's kind of a match for me. I fall between INTP and INFP, more on the INTP side, and I identify as an independent. I tend liberal especially on social issues, so I might be closer to Democrats than to Republicans.

Worked for me. I'm INTP, and that comes out as independent, which I am.

@KateNonymous- I wasn't implying the MBTI assessment is prescriptive of political views. This is an interesting demographic trend of MBTI preferences. Nothing more, There are tons of studies that look at the distribution of MBTI preferences among birth order, geographical location, leisure activities, health issues, etc.

I'm in INTP, and am not registered as a member of any party, though I do tend to vote democratic or third party in elections, so it seems to be a fit.
