Gen Yers are often ridiculed for their desire to get to the top fast. Most of us feel, however, that there is nothing wrong with being young and ambitious. But, if you’re making the choice to be on the fast track, be prepared; it’s not all fun and games:
1. It’s not easy to be in charge.
Sometimes it’s easy to look at those above you and think “What an idiot!

Great piece..
One additional observation is to leverage your peers experience.
We launched the social network www.genxconnect.com for that specific purpose.. to many of us are out there trying to do this alone...

Superb post!
And so agree with you on all of this! It doesn't get any easier up there, no matter what it seems like from down here :)

It's so important to realize that getting to the top is only the start of the challenge. If you get to the top but don't produce results, you'll probably learn to realize that the fall down is much quicker than the climb up!

As for number 5:
Beware of advancing with the perception that you have gamed the system, slept your way to the top, have vaulted over numerous qualified candidates just because you're young, or any similar reason that does not include solid accomplishment, talents skills, and knowledge.
Many will resent this, and more than a few promising careers have been shredded by those who have the knowledge, influence, connections and skill to sabotage the new kid at the top.
