Yes, #10 is truly brilliant. Especially when you're like me and have to write entire papers over again because your computer crashed and none of the information was recoverable.
But # 2: Stop overanalyzing things is also great since I typically don't even think of time spent overanalyzing as wasted until I look at the clock and realize I've spent the entire day thinking of what I was supposed to do.
A very efficient list, you have!

Thanks for the added insight everyone. Sorry for the delay. I was out of town this past week. ;-)

#10: Backup your data!

This one stands out to me. Especially in the last two months.

First, my dog ate my laptop (really).

Then, I had my backup stolen out of my car.

It's been a hell of a few months and unfortunately I didn't consistently back up everything I should have.

It all worked out in the end, but I wasted a lot of time.

Ironically, my last laptop died just as I was backing-up the final version of my dissertation. Luckily, the only thing I lost was the updates to 120 pages of footnotes, but it still hurt.

Now, I never forget to back-up everything in multiple places - especially when I'm halfway through an annoying, time-consuming, tedious task!
