4 RESPONSES TO "USE PODCASTS TO BUILD YOUR PERSONAL NETWORK"

Your post got me thinking. Podcasting would work great as a two part strategy with a blog to garner interest. Even if you have an audience of 2 (not friends or family) that are curious about learning more about your thoughts and ideas, you can invite them to the podcast through your blog and start from there. Like you said, its just more intimate with a voice attached. Maybe even go to Youtube if its appropriate.

Good post & I have 1 more to add.
Build Network with market leaders:
Many times, podcaster invites & interview people they know or admire.
-----------------------
Podcasts & blog gartner 2 slightly different type of audience, even though there are tons of overlap.

I find podcasts are more like: 1.5 way conversation or podcaster-fan based relation with Q&A with listeners. (similar to local band-fan relations)

Even though the hype might have left;
Podcasts serves the long tail, so I don't think it will disappear any time soon.

Do you have any advice on how to get into podcasting?

Start by finding some podcasts that interest you. If they have call-in lines, start participating in the conversation.

As for creating your own podcast, wordpress has a great plugin called podpress that makes it easy to upload audio and create a podcast feed to submit to iTunes. I use a free program called Audacity to edit the audio.

There are more technical details - if you really want to get into podcasting, feel free to send me an email and I'll help you get started.
