Excellent advice. I was one of the ones who in the middle of the internship decided that I was in the wrong place. I still finished out the summer doing the best job I could and did not burn any bridges. In fact, I still maintain a relationship with my manager from that summer.

Caitlin, these are all good points. I know that some interns get so caught up in proving their intelligence and competence that they forget (or overlook) everything else. As you point out, dressing and acting the part can be just as important as actually doing your job well.

Excellent article, not just for internships, but for starting a job at any time and thinking about the right fit--especially culture and building relationships.
You hit the nail!

This is the time of year when, every time the phone rings here at Veritas Prep HQ, there's a good chance it's an applicant calling to ask us if he should apply to business school in the third admissions round, or if he should wait until next year. The answer, as is the answer for most things in life, is "It depends."

When I embarked on my blog journey last December, I thought of it as just an extension of who I was, professionally and personally. I also looked at the blog as a way of being creative. It’s become more than that to me and those of you that read this. My blog is now part of my personal brand.
