How to Ace your Performance Review

It’s performance review you time. You sit down at your computer, open up the form, and start rating yourself on various aspects of your job. But, suddenly, you’re blank. You can’t think of specific examples to support your claim of excellence. You rack your brain. Flip through your calendar to review past appointments and meetings. [...]It’s performance review time.

This is an "I agree, but..." comment.

I agree workers should write down their accomplishments -- throughout the year and in measurable terms -- to improve their performance reviews and resumés.

But, and it's a small butt, workers don't have to write like a freshman English major with a new thesaurus to do this.

Turning, "Worked on marketing budget," into, "Negotiated professional service fees," doesn't impress any but the most vacuous manager. It might be worthwhile if you truly have a low opinion of your audience, but this A-list is for yourself as much as anyone else.
