Are You Ready to Take on New Responsibilities?

On Monday I finally did something I’ve been thinking about doing for over a year – I bought a puppy.

5 RESPONSES TO "ARE YOU READY TO TAKE ON NEW RESPONSIBILITIES?"

Susan Johnston

My office's mascot is a golden retriever named Fenway. He's a bit of a handful, but having a dog around definitely diffuses tension sometimes.

Congrats on the getting a kid! My wife and I have 2, and luckily we got them in College while we still had time to raise them. They can be a handful (especially my lab).

I await the day that I am running a start-up and can bring them into work!

Good post, Ry! Not only did you take on a new responsibility, but you were responsible enough to evaluate how you would deal with this new responsibility going forward and how this decision would affect your life and others. Kudos to you!

Congratulations and best wishes to you and Charlie. By the way, did you know they have yoga classes you can go to with your dog. It is called Doga. What a hoot!

I laughed when you said your parents laughed when you asked them their opinion. Obviously they knew their son wouldn't have made such a decision without first considering the new responsibilities. I would guess Charlie is a chocolate lab based on the jpg. How big is he expected to be after fully grown?

Susan:

I didn't think of that. Maybe he will help everyone get along better. Good point.

Mark W:

I don't think they laughed because I asked for their opinion. They laughed because it was exciting and something they knew I had been planning for awhile. Plus, it was very out of the blue. They didn't expect to hear it.

Yep, Charlie is a chocolate lab. They say there's no real way to tell how big he's going to get. But he's got paws like a bear so I have a feeling he's going to get pretty big
