My job doesn’t give me adequate opportunities to develop myself as a leader. My organization lacks structure and there is no motivation or inspiration resulting in me being less enthusiastic to be there. But. . .
Absolutely spot on!
I'm going through the exact same thing now with my first career job. It's a necessary step to realise that this is your first job and that you won't (in most cases anyway) develop the leadership qualities that you envisaged when you started. As Allison says, this first role is a time for self exploration. Try to figure out what areas of the company really interest you then actively seek responsibility in those areas.
As the old saying goes 'every journey begins with the first step', this reflects a career in the corporate world. Use this first role to establish yourself in the new 'world' that you have entered and then build on this foundation to grow and develop in what ever direction you so wish.
If you don't love your first job, oh well! Figure out what it is you do love, treat your job like what it is, a way to make a living, and work toward your next career move.
If you love your job, I say you should eat, sleep and drink it, but if not, its OK to get your work done (well) and go home.

Awesome post, Allison.
