Money Tip: Both Paycheck and Expenses Need Attention

Google vs Costco. Two giant businesses, both very profitable, (both from California) but with a fundamental difference in strategy. Google is all about revenue growth–they release many new products each year and add customers to drive top line growth. Costco, while also focused on growing revenue, places a larger emphasis on driving down cost for bottom line growth.

This is good, down to earth advice. Often times people think they can fix their financial situation with more income. It is actually a life style change more than an income change. I like how you use the term "margin" here. It really is all about your margin and how comfortable you are in it.

Spend less than you earn is a better rule than all the other rules of thumb. However on has to be realistic when just starting out. How do you thunk your income will grow? How do you think your expensses can be managed and contained? After one has settled down thing get better. So its a matter of wait and study and having fun doing that.

Best advice I have seen from anyone who is published on this site.

Just don't come home to Mom and Dad to keep your finances in balance :).

Bill, you caught me. I thought I'd heard on a radio program that Costco was founded in California, but I didn't too my fact checking.

Thanks for the compliments!
